Frequently Asked Questions
When should I change the oil in my vehicle?
Although factory maintenance schedules vary between models, a general rule is to
change the oil and filter ever 5000 kilometers.
How Does Your Service Work?
SETTING UP AS A NEW CUSTOMER
When we begin servicing vehicles for a new customer we set-up a
service record for each vehicle of the customer's. Information
furnished by the customer includes their personal info (name, phone,
email, etc) the year, make and model, the license number, and the VIN
(vehicle identification number), of each vehicle. From there we take
care of the rest.
Vehicle service records are key to maintaining your vehicle. Each
contact we have with a vehicle is noted in its service record. Over
time, an accurate service history is built for each vehicle. Customers
may request copies of their service records at any time.
We don't use contracts or submit anything for signature, we simply
begin the service. If for any reason a customer wishes to discontinue,
we'll stop. This approach is simpler for everyone, and risk free for
the customer.
With everything in place and after the first few services everything
settles down to a familiar routine, and all the cost saving benefits to
the customer start.
We also use e-mail estimates, maintenance notification and billing.
We take appointments on-line as well on our contact us page. We
accept MasterCard and visa, debit and cash. Sorry we do not accept
personal cheques.
How Do I Know if my Vehicle Needs an Annual Inspection?
If the gross vehicle weight of the truck or
truck and loaded trailer combined exceeds 4500kg, you need to undergo
an annual inspection. This means that if you tow a heavy trailer with
your 1/2-ton Pickup or Minivan, you will need to put an annual sticker
on both trailer and vehicle.
When Should My Tires Be Rotated and Why?
Tires require rotation every 10,000 kilometers. This allows all of the tires
to wear down at the same rate, giving many more kilometers out of a set
of tires. Also, rotating a set of tires allows a quick inspection of
your brakes, which can alert us of any upcoming problems.
Why is there such a cost difference between parts from different places?
The main reason for the difference in the price for the same part in
different stores is simply that a cheaper part is built with less
quality and/or has no warranties.
A high quality part usually "fits" better when installed properly
and lasts longer due to better steel and materials used in
manufacturing. More accurate machining processes
result in a part that "works" better and lasts longer.
Also if a high quality part DOES fail, chances are it is under warranty so the total cost of the initial part and cost of replacement is considerably less
than the cost of replacing a cheap part twice. The bottom line is "YOU GET
WHAT YOU PAY FOR."
